Club 612 is committed to fielding Spring/Summer Traveling Teams from 10U to 18U.
Below is some basic information about Club 612's Summer Traveling Fastpitch program. Other aspects of Club 612's are still coming together and details will be added as they become available, so if you have other questions not covered in the F.A.Q. please use the contact form on this website to address your specific issue.
When is the Spring/Summer Season?
The length of season depends somewhat on the age of the girls. For younger girls 10-12, the games will start May 1st and practices will start before May 1st.. 14U, 16U and 18U will start Mid-May and this should dovetail with the conclusion of the school ball season. The season ends Mid-July. Some teams, depending on budgets and interest could extend the season.
What Are Club 612's Goals With the Program?
In general, Club 612 was started to create more and better fastpitch opportunities for all girls in Minneapolis. Our mission is to provide a complimentary experience to programs offered in the Park and Rec. system. For some, this will mean getting involved in a true traveling softball program (like our summer program). Club 612 will also offer Fall Player Development leagues, Skills Clinics and Dome Ball.
What is the time commitment?
Practice and games will take up around 3 nights per week. Games generally played on Tuesday and Thursdays or Mondays and Wednesdays depending on age group. For example:
10U - Tuesday
12U - Monday/Wednesday
14U - Tuesday/Thursday
16U - Monday/Wednesday
Each team from 10U to 18U will be given a tournament budget from the organization. Tournaments are held on weekends and generally encompass two days.
Where will you play?
The club is working with the Minneapolis Park Board to secure home fields. We have a request in for a location in South Minneapolis that will be finalized in the next few weeks for games and practices. The teams will travel in and around the metro with some travel in excess of an hour.
The cost per player will run around $350* for the Spring/Summer season. The final number will be determined before rosters are set. Since this is Club 612's inaugural Spring/Summer Season, some fixed costs must be spread over the total number of players. It is Club 612's philosophy to keep costs as low as possible and to offer girls the ability to play travel ball in a -la-carte fashion, picking and choosing a season/program that fits their schedule and interest.
Club 612 is a brand new organization and frankly, out biggest need now is money. Club 612 is a 501 (c) (3) so fundraising will play a critical role in filling out the operation budget. Most of Club 612's start-up equipment has been donated as is part new and part hand-me-downs. There will be more specific volunteer opportunities as the leagues and programs get underway. If you or your company would like to donate, use the contact form on this website and a member of Club 612's board will get in touch with you.
Club 612 is actively seeking coaches for 10U-18U. Even though Club 612 will rely on volunteer coaches, our intent is to field a roster of coaches who have the experience and skills to develop the players. All coaches are subject to a background check (paid for by the league). Club 612's Janis Stephan will oversee the hiring process. If you are interested in coaching you can reach out to Janis at: :Janisstephan612@yahoo.com.
Thank you for your interest in Club 612.
